When Cowboys fullback Scott Drinkwater came to Galaxy Sport, he was already a disciplined saver. But behind his desire to invest was a very clear motivation — Scott’s greatest fear was finishing football and having to go “back on the tools” or work as a labourer.
He wanted to use his years in professional sport wisely and build enough financial security to give himself choices when football eventually ended.
THE PLAN
Together, we developed a long-term strategy focused on living within his means and building wealth through property.
Our advice to Scott was simple: don’t build a lifestyle that depends on a footballer’s income. Instead, invest the difference and use his playing career as an opportunity to establish assets that could support him well beyond the game.
Following a new contract, Scott purchased his first off-the-plan investment property, which increased significantly in value by completion. From there, we continued using his growing equity and income strategically to expand his portfolio while managing debt.
THE RESULT
Today, Scott is building a substantial property portfolio designed to set him up for life after football.
Along the way, he has secured a long-term playing contract, married his partner, welcomed two beautiful daughters and purchased their family home in Townsville. We were also incredibly honoured to host Scott’s wedding at our home — a reflection of a relationship that has grown well beyond financial advice.
