Financial Wellbeing
Inspired by Cowboys NRLW teammate Jakiya Whitfeld, Rosie Kelly approached Galaxy Sport for specialist advice on saving for and purchasing her first property in Townsville.
Rosie’s situation was unique. Her income came from contracts with the Cowboys and Japanese rugby, while also studying and working part-time as a physio — creating additional challenges when it came to finance and lending.
THE PLAN
Galaxy Sport worked with Rosie to build her savings, understand her borrowing position and identify a property strategy that suited her circumstances.
While Rosie was living and playing in Japan, our property team identified an opportunity in a thriving northern suburb of Townsville, securing a block of land and construction contract essentially off-the-plan.
THE RESULT
By the time the land registered and Rosie was ready to build, the property had already gained more than $60,000 in equity.
Once completed, Rosie plans to live in the property and rent rooms to her Cowboys teammates, helping turn her first home into an asset that works for her financially.
With a demanding sporting career, study and work commitments, Rosie’s journey shows the value of having the right advice and strategy around you when the traditional path doesn’t quite fit.
