Financial Wellbeing
Izack, a Penrith Panthers centre, was already an excellent saver when Galaxy Sport began working with him. In his own words, he was a bit of a “tight-ass” — which gave us a strong starting point.
What he lacked wasn’t discipline, but direction. He was building cash consistently without a clear strategy for how those savings could turn into long-term assets.
THE PLAN
We kept things simple.
Izack’s savings were moved into accounts that were harder to access, while we agreed on a monthly spending budget and used Galaxy Sport’s Payroll Diversion method to automatically direct the balance away from everyday spending.
We also encouraged him not to rush into buying property simply because of where he was playing football. Unless there was a strong personal reason or long-term contract certainty, flexibility mattered.
After Izack secured a three-year contract extension on improved terms, we helped him purchase an off-the-plan investment property using just $5,000 in deposit funds.
THE RESULT
Izack kept building his savings month after month while the investment property increased in value by approximately $100,000 before construction had even commenced.
His next goal was bigger and more personal: buying a home for his family. In 2025, he achieved it.
Even while reaching major sporting milestones, including representing Samoa at the World Cup in the UK, Izack stayed committed to the system. He didn’t dip into his diverted savings.
The habits had become automatic — giving him the freedom to focus on football while continuing to build for life beyond it.
