Brian came to Galaxy Sport wanting to strengthen his financial knowledge and create a secure future for himself and his family. Despite earning well, limited financial literacy and spending habits were making it difficult to achieve his childhood dream — buying his parents a home.
Recognising Brian’s Samoan heritage and strong connection to family, we took a worldbeing approach. Rather than looking at finances in isolation, we held a Talanoa with Brian and his family to understand their collective priorities and set goals together.
THE PLAN
From the Talanoa, we created a culturally responsive financial plan that balanced Brian’s family commitments with his long-term goals. We redirected a portion of his family contributions and additional representative and endorsement income into savings, while also helping reduce everyday expenses.
The focus wasn’t simply on saving money — it was about building Brian’s financial knowledge and confidence while respecting the cultural values important to him and his family.
THE RESULT
Within just 15 months, Brian achieved his dream and purchased a home for his parents.
Fast forward two years, and Brian, Sala and their beautiful family are now preparing to purchase a home of their own.
Along the way, our relationship has grown beyond financial advice. We’ve become like extended family, and being invited to Brian and Sala’s wedding was a genuine honour.
